Sustainability

On an unshakable path to a sustainable future

We hold ourselves accountable so we can deliver on our promise to always lead a business that is ethical and responsible.

Minimising environmental impact is at the forefront of every decision we make. Planet and people have always and will always come before profit.

We instil sustainability and corporate responsibility into every aspect of our business. From the materials we use in our jewellery to the ecological initiatives we support, care for the environment is part of our DNA.

We’ve taken action from the very beginning so that our impact grows as we do.

What we're doing to protect the planet

We are carbon neutral:

We strive to limit the impact our business has on the environment. This is why we’re working hard to reduce or offset our carbon emissions through our entire business and processes. We’re incredibly proud to be Carbon Neutral Certified and verified by the four largest Carbon Certifications worldwide - Verified Carbon Standard (VCS), Gold Standard Voluntary Emission Reductions (VER), UK and EU Emissions Trading Standard (EU & UK ETS) and the United Nations Certified Emissions Reductions (CER) programmes.

Responsibly sourced and ethical raw materials:

Gemstones and precious metals come at a high price to the planet. The lengthy process associated with sourcing and treating them can have catastrophic effects on both the ecosystem and the communities involved in mining them.

This is why we keep a close eye on our supply chain, only working with manufacturers using ethically sourced gemstones and lab-grown, conflict-free diamonds.

More than that, all our sterling silver is 100% recycled, which produces two thirds less CO2 than mined silver.

Recycled Sterling Silver

As we all know, Silver is a limited resource. The demand for silver is growing rapidly, increasing by 24% over the past 10 years, with the global silver production through mining coming to some 24,000 metric tonnes last year, alone (U.S. Geological Survey (USGS)).
Unfortunately, however, mining is one of the major contributors to climate change. Mining emits an eye watering volume of greenhouse gasses and the chemicals used in the process cause dangerous amounts of erosion, contamination to ground-water, soil and surface water, and in turn contributing to a devastating loss of biodiversity. Although this can in no way be reversed, contribution to this can be restricted...
That’s why, here at Milly Grace, we only use 925 Sterling Silver which has been recycled. That means all our sterling silver has had a previous life. Recycled silver is therefore the perfect way to contribute to a circular economy and cut down on our impact on the planet, without compromising the quality and durability of our jewellery.

Eco-friendly packaging:

Mindfully crafted, inside and out. We have reinvented the unboxing experience to guarantee minimal waste. That means all our packaging is either reusable, recycled or recyclable!

Every order you receive will guarantee:

* A paperless dispatch: No unnecessary order forms or return labels are included in your order. Everything is done online!

*100% recyclable jewellery boxes

*Long live the pouch: We use regular organic cotton pouches or RPET pouches in our jewellery pouches. Both gorgeous, and re-usable!

And what we're planning to do next:

We’re working really hard to continue making a positive change to the jewellery industry. We won’t stop until all our metal is 100% recycled.

Our 2022 update

Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC)

We began 2021 with 33% of our suppliers being RJC certified. We are so proud that we have now transitioned to 100% of our suppliers being RJC certified. This is kind of a big deal, and we will tell you why…
The RJC holds high standards to work towards a sustainable and responsible jewellery and watch industry. The RJC Code of Practices (COP) is the global standard for ethical responsible supply chains. They undertake robust certification processes which are independently audited, to read more about their extensive standards, visit their website here.

Recycled 18ct Gold

Part of our 2021 mission was to transition our products to Recycled 18ct Gold Plating. We are delighted that as of April 2022 49% of our products are now crafted using 100% Recycled 18ct Gold Plating.  We are very proud of this and will strive to increase this percentage to 60% by 2023 but will not stop until we reach 100%.

Keeping us accountable
